MHL Supported Smartphones List 2021

MHL-supported smartphones list as of today, Mobile High Definition Link is the old standard of getting display-out via MHL compatible smartphones/gadgets and embedded in Micro-USB.

The term MHL is referred to as USB 3.1, which means you have to search for Type C 3.1 powered smartphones.

MHL supported smartphones? How to check?

The only way to check MHL (USB 3.1) is via the specifications of a particular smartphone or device.

As I said in the YouTube video, 3.1 gen1 is the USB standard, which means you can see the same with USB Type-A and Type-B.

Nowadays all smartphone devices are packed with Type-C 2.0, which doesn’t support display-out via HDMI, that’s why we need Type C 3.1 gen1.

Let’s talk about the cheapest brand the Apple! (just kidding…)

As you already know Apple is unique and uses its own port. These are the supported iOS devices from the Apple brand.

Apple supported list

  • iPhone 5, 5C, 5S
  • iPhone 6, 6+, 6S+
  • iPhone 7, 7+iPhone 8, 8+
  • iPhone X, XR, XS
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE 1st Gen & 2nd Gen
  • All iPads except for 1st Gen

Note – All these devices support display output, But you have to purchase the cheapest Adapter, the Apple Digital AV Adapter that costs around three thousand rupees.

  • OnePlus 7, 7t, 7 Pro, 7t Pro
  • OnePlus 8, 8t, 8 Pro
  • OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, 9R

Note – Previous OnePlus devices and the NORD series are not compatible.

  • Pixel 3, 3xl, 3a, 3axl
  • Pixel 4, 4xl, 4a

Samsung MHL devices

  • Note 8
  • Note 9
  • Note 10, 10+
  • Note 20, 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy s8, s8+

  • Galaxy s20, s20+, s20 Ultra, s20fe

Note – Lower and Mid-range devices like Galaxy F, M, A series along with Note 10 lite & s10 Lite won’t support display-out or MHL.

  • LG g8, g8X
  • LG wing
  • LG velvet
  • LG v60, etc.

ASUS MHL devices

  • ROG 1
  • ROG 2
  • ROG 3
  • ROG 5

Oppo Smartphones

UPDATE: Previously we have added a few Oppo models as per ‘gsmarena’ website, but now none of them are actually compatible.

Still, we are searching for a piece of accurate information, let us know if you find any compatible MHL-supported smartphones.

Sony Xperia 1, 1ii, Xperia 5, 5ii, Huawei Mate 40, 40 Pro, 40 Pro+, etc.

Brands that don’t support MHL as of Today

  • Xiaomi – POCO
  • VIVO – IQOO
  • realme
  • Lenovo, Honor, Infinix, Motorola, etc.

Future phones of Lenovo, Motorola may come with Type C 3.1 support, come back for the updated list.
